Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system developed by Roblox Corporation that allows users to program games and play games created by other users. Created by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004 and released in 2006, the platform hosts user-created games of multiple genres coded in the programming language Lua. For most of Roblox’s history, it was relatively small, both as a platform and a company. Work at Roblox
In November 2016, Roblox promoted two developers to its board of directors. Leyla Games founder and CEO James Hagaman was named to the company’s board and representatives from Turbine Games’ development team, including Chief Operating Officer Mark O’Hanlon and Chief Creative Officer Terry Myerson, were also named to the board. In March 2017, the company introduced Roblox Studio, a platform that enabled third-party developers to create games for Roblox. The Studio has since received critical acclaim and the platform has been downloaded over 35 million times. In 2018, Hagaman left Roblox to found DevLab.

In July 2019, three more developers were promoted to the Roblox board of directors: game development veteran Kevin McIntyre, the former Senior Vice President of the National Museum of American History; former Vice President of the Smithsonian Institution, Megan Smith, and musician and entrepreneur, Justin Kurzel.

In August 2019, Roblox executives revealed that the company had approximately 800 employees as of that date.

In December 2019, Roblox laid off 1,000 people.

Conservation projects play an important role in our biodiversity journey. Veterinary authorities place great value on the results of those studies and endeavours. Animal welfare in general and the EU veterinary legislation in particular have had an important and encouraging impact on EU animal welfare policy. The Irish Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (DAFF) has been working with various veterinary authorities and other relevant government agencies since 1994 to design a strategy for the EU with respect to animal welfare legislation and assessment. The EU Animal Welfare Legislation has had a significant effect on the EU animal welfare systems by providing legal standards and EU directives and allowing enforcement of these standards by national authorities.

It is expected that further legislation will be enacted as part of the move towards a single market for the production of pet food and other pet products. It is hoped that this will enhance the welfare of animals in the EU.

There are a number of international programmes for the ethical treatment of animals. These include the RSPCA, PETA, the European Federation of Animal Protection Associations (FEDVAC) and many more.

The European Regional Animal Protection Committees were set up in 1989 to co-ordinate and support an operational and comparative animal protection approach. Each animal protection committee covers a geographical region where each committee has a mandate to ensure that adequate protection is provided and to look at comparable reports in different regions. European Regional Animal Protection Committees discuss issues which include enforcement, legislation and reporting.

There are also a number of free roaming dog groups such as the Portuguese Lonely Hearts. They have developed a method of tracking dogs with the help of RFID chips which transmit location information and can be pinpointed via GPS.

A key issue for both national and international animal protection committees is the safety of animals in pet food production systems which are likely to move goods between countries in future. This includes ensuring that there is no ill-treatment of animals in the production and processing of pet food.
