The Pioneer DJ PreBox is Pioneer’s new iOS/Mac control box, with four XLR inputs and one jacks, two 1/4” jacks, two RCA outputs, and digital output jacks. With the Push-To-Sync iOS app, you can use it as a standalone DJ mixer or as an iPad/Mac controller for Serato DJ Pro, Serato DJ, and Live (even for Other OS Players).
The Verge mentioned that the DDJ-SX’s limited analog outputs would be a “worry” for artists using MIDI-equipped devices, but as we showed in our editor’s review of Serato DJ Pro (add to cart on the previous page), using a MIDI-equipped device like the i555 still enabled both the DDJ-SX and the i555 to function as a “one-box” with it’s own deck, allowing you to use one controller (DDJ-SX) and one MIDI controller (i555), to fill your entire setup.
The important thing about Serato DJ now is that the effects section works in tandem with the hardware, and the manual goes into great detail on how to use the DDJ-SX to play DJ sets—or just listen to your favorite songs.
