Headlines can be split or merged with ‘enter’ or ‘del’ (left or right delete) in the console or by pressing one of the split/merge buttons on the file toolbar. It works in any mode!

Press the arrow keys to move the cursor between headlines.

‘n’ is not a split, it is a ‘next’ headline.
‘p’ is not a split, it is a ‘previous’ headline.
It is also a ‘next’ headline if the cursor is at the end of a headline.

Splits can be undone by hitting ‘undo’

Deletion can be undone by hitting ‘undo’

Merges can be undone by hitting ‘undo’

You can also undo a merge by choosing the’merge’ option in the menu.

You can also rename a headline by pressing ‘R’ or by double clicking. The name will appear in the command line.

There are also commands to help you navigate the headlines.
‘h’ is ‘help’
‘n’ is ‘next’
‘p’ is ‘previous’
‘a’ is’merge’
‘?’ is ‘list headlines’

So in summary, it’s a ‘next’ headline editor, but it can also do splits and merges, undo merges and do help and list.

To save the changes you make to the headline hierarchy, you can save the file. This will save any changes in the headline hierarchy.

You can open a’save’ file with the filename ‘open’.
If you want to start with an empty headline hierarchy, you can just open an empty file.

Tkoutline was written to fill a gap in the Tcl/Tk user community.
Since Tcl/Tk is a popular language, it seemed like there should be an easy way to create a user interface for creating web pages that would look like a page of a document written in Tcl/Tk.
But, since a Tcl/Tk user interface is limited to Tcl/Tk users, there really isn’t a simple way to do this and very few people have addressed the problem.
The result is that most people have to resort to using a plain Tcl/Tk program to create web pages and then use a browser to display those pages.
This is a great limitation since the browser is pretty powerful, but it is also a great limitation because it doesn’t allow the seamless creation of a web page.
The solution is “Tkoutline”.
With “Tkoutline” you can create a web page from a Tcl/Tk file, add navigation links, buttons, images, etc…
