STADS allows you to easily switch between audio devices without going into the control panel. STADS allows you to select an audio device from a list and launch it with the click of a button. You can set STADS to launch a specific application and audio device automatically when you start up Windows XP. You can also set STADS to launch a specific application and audio device each time you start up Windows XP.

STADS works only with Alsa audio and all outputs are treated equally, whatever the audio device is, and you don’t have to load the other driver first.

Compiling STADS:

1. Install all libraries and headers (for example openal32.dll)

– go to C:\Program Files\STADS\STADS.exe

– uncheck System Tray, and put the STADS icon to the bottom of the
taskbar.

1. Download the STADS zip archive and unzip it to a place of your choice.

2. Open the folder that contains STADS, and go to the folder named “STADS”.

3. Double click on STADS.exe and follow the onscreen instructions.

4. To switch the audio device, right click on STADS, and choose Settings.

5. Check the option: “Automatically Start a program when Windows starts”.

6. Make sure you’ve selected “Sound Card” from the list.

7. Click the OK button.

8. To exit, close STADS by clicking on the Close button.

STADS is a small program that can be run from the Run dialog box or from a shortcut to easily switch between audio devices. It is designed to allow you to access the control panel to change the audio devices and is used to change the speakers for video games.

STADS allows you to set the default Audio device. It can change between analog and digital sound. Also there is the ability to change the default sound driver that will be used when you double click on the STADS icon.

When you start STADS it will run in the system tray and gives you a choice to open or close the program when you close it.

How to use STADS:

STADS works like a charm. Just run STADS and it will open the control panel for you.

Select the first sound device and then press the OK button to switch to the first device. The sound will change to the sound device that you selected.

To return back to your first sound device press the OK button.

To change your sound device back to the default device, double click on the STADS icon and it will close.

To change your sound device back to the default device, press the OK button when STADS opens.

Some people may experience an issue where the sound will not change when you switch from your main device to a different device.

There may be a conflict with the Windows startup settings that will conflict with the sound drivers that STADS will use.

You can solve this by going to Control Panel/System and unchecking the box “Enable Windows startup/ logon sound” and restart your PC. This will force the program to use the default Windows audio driver.

If STADS opens and closes within a few seconds it means that you have selected a sound device that is not supported.

There is a way to disable this as well. Go to Control Panel/Sound/System and uncheck the “Enable Windows startup sound” box. Restart your computer.

Troubleshooting:

The first thing that you should do when you start STADS is to go to the sound settings and make sure that it is set to the default sound device.

If you are experiencing any other issues.

Go to Control Panel/Sound/Error.

Click on the “Help Center” button.

Select “Sound Problems”.

You will have to provide information about your sound hardware and how you are using the sound driver. If you are using the motherboard’s sound driver, you need to first go to the BIOS and disable the auto boot. After you have done this
