i’m in the process of making a mod (for the first time) for a game called agent ninja. it’s a stealth/action game (it’s like splinter cell, but you’re ninja) and i’ve put a ton of work into it, and i’d really like to release it. however, i have the problem that i don’t know how to properly make a compressed.pac. the game needs to be installed into the c:\program files\agentninja\ directory. i’ve got all my texture files extracted into a folder called textures, and i’ve added it to the list of files to be extracted (the text file has a bunch of.pac files in it), and i’ve extracted those files into a folder called textures (same as before). however, when i try to use the -all option with a compressed.pac, the tool tells me that there are still no files to be compressed, even though there clearly are, because the filelist.txt file has my texture folder listed in it. what am i doing wrong?
i used the pacman1.pac file to extract the game, and then renamed the ‘inc’ folder (the others) to ‘a’ and ‘b’. they were not compressed, so i created a new.pac file, called ‘pacman2.pac’ and used the tool to extract them, and then the extract tool is able to find them. i tried to make a.pac file with them, and that didn’t work, so i edited ‘filelist.txt’ in pacman1.pac (the others) to remove the numbers after the names of a and b, and tried to compress again. this time, only the others were compressed,not a and b, and all others listed after a and b were not compressed either.
and upon using that.pac file, the game crashes upon loading, and i’m not sure if that’s because of the random numbers or if it’s because of the.pac file. so, i used the tool to extract them again, made a.pac file with them, and tested it. it worked! and now, i’m trying to figure out why it can’t be done with the v1.
