The OCUR BIOS Check Utility application was designed to be a small tool that will allow you to quickly check to see if your Windows Vista PC has the correct information in the BIOS to be “Digital Cable Ready”. This is necessary for the use of Digital Cable/OCUR tuners.
To use, extract the BAT and EXE files from the ZIP, to the same folder on your hard disk. Then double click the OCURCHECK.BAT file to execute it.
NOTE: This utility is only for use on Windows Vista, as MCE 2005 does not support Digital Cable Tuners.

This utility uses information contained in the OCUR BIOS’ CMOS/BIOS Area to check if the BIOS information contained in the CMOS/BIOS is identical or close enough to the Digital Cable/OCUR BIOS information as defined by the industry. MCE 2005 uses the registry for all of its settings. If you modify anything in the registry, you must restart the MCE 2005 service in order for the changes to take effect. Once you have restored the registry and MCE 2005 has started, then you can edit the registry. To do so, you must:

Open the Registry Editor
Open the registry hive for MCE 2005

You may do so by opening the regedit program by typing regedit in the Start Menu. You will now be presented with a window where you can browse the different partitions. In this case the registry hive that I am going to use is the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Classes. You can also use the Windows Search feature to locate this hive.
Search for the appropriate subkey. For example, to find the MCE 2005\Playback\SinkPort entry, you would search for “Playback”.
Click on the desired key to open it, and then locate the MCE 2005\Playback\SinkPort key.
Copy it and paste it into a new text file.
To open the text file, type Notepad, in the Start Menu. Or, you can do so in the Windows Explorer: Select Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad. Now you can use the arrow keys to move to the line that contains the content of your registry key, and then press enter to create a new line.
Save the text file in Notepad.
To save the text file, click File -> Save. Type the filename in the dialog box, and then click Save.

To save the changes, do the following:

Open the Registry Editor
Open the registry hive for MCE 2005
Go to MCE 2005\Playback\SinkPort
Copy the text from the text file.
Paste it into the editor, as described in step 3 above.
Save the changes.

The registry hives for MCE 2005 are quite complex, but they are all easily created and maintained.
Before attempting to edit the registry, you will need to ensure that you have restored it.

From the Start Menu, select Run. Type Regedit, and then click OK. You should now be presented with a window that allows you to browse the different registry hives. Browse the appropriate hive. In this case, I am going to use the hive for MCE 2005:
