the windows setup assistant window will appear. click next. next, you will be presented with the installation options. you can select the language(s) you are willing to install office in. this is mainly to simplify the installation of the program. as in my example, i only want english to be installed on the computer. so simply select english and click next. next, you will be asked to provide your product key to activate the trial version of office.
i’ve also found a new feature that’s quite useful when you’re working on long documents. in microsoft office 2010, the text cursor is now highlighted with the thin blue line, and you can see the character you’re about to select or type by looking at the text cursor line. this feature works for all office programs except excel, where you should use the “context menu” to the right of the characters on the page to choose your desired font.

in fact, there is a workaround to save the templates that use macros. it allows you to save these files as other file types, such as.docx or.odt, instead of.dotx templates. the workaround applies only to the open xml formats (.docx,.xlsx,.pptx,.ppt) because there are problems with.dotx templates when opening in office 2007.
