you know when you meet the right person and it feels like youve been with them forever. he wasnt just that special guy who got away. he was meant to be with you. and thats what makes you crazy. its very heartwarming when the guy really is your soulmate. but there are many other ways to make a relationship work without resorting to ‘love’. and that is what makes this film very watchable. this is the kind of movie you can share with a mate youve known for ages and laugh at the same things. and its a good break for all those couples who arent in a long-term relationship, the kind who doesnt have that ‘i love you’ moment every day. and what makes this movie the most enjoyable was the chemistry between the leads. dulquer was extremely endearing as yaazhan, and aditi was very convincing as mouna. they were just perfect together. for that brief time, they showed us the real deal.
the film has been directed by the master himself, anurag kashyap. a young girl is trapped in a loveless marriage with a pompous, brash, and not-so-sophisticated cop. things start going wrong when her boyfriend promises to marry her. she then decides to do the same with him. the cop finds out and confronts the girl. he is a typical hero in the film.
the biggest problem with this film is its inability to communicate. its like a person who cannot talk to someone who doesnt speak his language. the movie is so much in love with its own world that it cant bring itself to communicate with the rest of us. it cannot even acknowledge that there is a different world than its own. its a very confined world that it has created and its characters are the only ones who inhabit it. the society around them is the only one that makes sense to them. the rest of us are not even considered as individuals. our only value is as people who live in a world where the characters live. which is why we are only seen as scenery. and thats why we cannot understand the characters even if we try our best.
