Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, The, is a vampire action movie set in 14th Century Northern England starring Benjamin Walker as the 6th President of the United States in the year 1863.

When Lincoln’s daughter, Mary Todd returns home after spending some time on the road, Lincoln begins to feel that his family is more in danger than ever before. When an assassin kills ten people Lincoln is convinced that the vampire suspect is Mary Todd’s father, the Governor of Indiana, Robert Todd Lincoln. The police catch the assassin just in time, but Robert Lincoln escapes his captors with the help of a mysterious woman, and goes into hiding. When President Davis of the Confederacy is assassinated by a Confederate general, Robert cannot resist the temptation to put his own daughter and the President’s wife, Mary, in mortal danger and he sets out to kill them, beginning a never-ending battle that eventually engulfs the whole country, with skeletons of the dead and dying coming to life as vampires.

Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a good B movie.

Finally, a good movie about Lincoln, the real deal, not some fancy TV movie. This movie brings out the Lincoln of legend and brings it back to life. If you’ve ever wondered about the character played by Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln, you need to see this movie. He is spot on. I also like the acting of Billy Campbell.Hanks voice over was a nice touch. This is a new take on the character of Lincoln. I’m cautiously optimistic. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I was drawn to this movie because of few things. 1) It is set some time in the near future, post Civil War. 2) Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor, 3) Daniel Day Lewis movie (My League) was good and 4) it sounded almost like a Civil War movie. But it somehow doesn’t feel the way nearly any Civil War movie I’ve seen on tv or in the movies did. This is the closest the Civil War movies have come to resembling the past, but it still feels a little like fantasy.
