bijay bhattacharya (born 7 november 1959) is an indian actor, director, producer and screenwriter, known for his works in the bengali film industry. born in kolkata, west bengal, india, he is the eldest son of noted indian bengali filmmaker chayanika bhattacharya, having two younger brothers, ajay, a film director, and goutam (who later became a director of telugu films), and three sisters.
one of the best indian actors is adah sharma on the silver screen with more than hundred films and he has won many awards for his acting. currently he is working in bengali film “abar byomkesh baki” directed by debaki bose. his role was written by him and is playing an influential character. anjan dutt [anjan dutt (born 20 february 1963) is an indian television actor. he gained prominence for his role in the tv series mohan joshi, and later starred in dastak, ram gopal varma’s thriller, and kaanchi. he also starred in the biographical television series binni adat.]
“ketan mehta” was one of the greatest authors in bengali. he was born on 15 september 1888 in monghyr. he was the son of gopinath mehta and the youngest in a family of three sons and two daughters. initially he learnt to write in english. his father wanted him to become a poet, but as he did not have a flair for writing poems and plays, he took to writing. he started his career as a journalist, and then joined bharatiya jnanpith as a journalist in december 1913. in this he gained a lot of experience.
The protagonist of an otautomata, Gouranga Chakraborty, is a destitute peasant living in Bengal and is visited by an intruder with his own predicaments. Then begins the detective play that forms the second chapter of Abar Byomkesh, directed by Satyajit Ray. After the happenings in Gouranga’s house are completely interpreted, the people starts doubting him. It is then revealed that Gouranga is not the actual invader but the real aggressor in the crime.
The main antagonist, Mahidhar Mukherjee, is a wealthy businessman who owns a research institute. He is a trained scientist and a bachelor in arts too, which is his only weakness. Now, the character description of the main antagonist of the film, Mukherjee, has been revealed. The role was originally played by late Balyogi. When Mukherjee’s role was being re-cast, the team of Abar Byomkesh decided to try Balyogi’s son, Bikash Chatterjee, for the role, before continuing with Ray’s original choice, Balyogi, in the mid role. Bikash Chatterjee was cast as Mukherjee.
Director Satyajit Ray announced the information about the female lead character of Abar Byomkesh in the week before the publication of the movie. What’s more significant is that Satyajit Ray gave the confirmation of the film’s protagonist, Gouranga Chakraborty, being portrayed by veteran Bengali actor Abir Chatterjee, better known as Abir by the people.
The film was earlier in pre-production stage. Satyajit Ray had written the script of the film in 1962 and almost completed the script but the shooting was put to a halt after the sudden death of Dutt, the director of the film, in 1964. He had not seen the script since 1963 when he had left the production of the film. Subsequently, Abir Chatterjee and Bikash Chatterjee were to play the role of Gouranga. Later, Abir decided to take on the part of “Byomkesh” as the protagonist and Mukherjee as the antagonist. He is better known as Bikash by the people. Ritwick Barua and Silajit Majumdar were then cast as “Byomkesh” and “Ajit”, respectively.
