fixed a problem that would cause a crash upon load if you got into a game with an active icfssetuplockboxserver because of bad network settings, e.g. if you were connected via wifi and had a bad ip and so on.

please make sure that your steam launcher is updated.

it’s always important to be sure that the steam launcher for the game has been updated. the windows steam client will check for a valid and up-to-date steam login. this can be done automatically by adding the game to your steam account and checking for the “update” message that will come up.

if you are seeing this, please follow the usual steam games update / check for new content / login procedure to update your game launcher. if this doesn’t fix the problem, you could try deleting the game from your steam account and registering again.

Another oddity is that my Steam needs to download an update right after I get home, not before. So, after every reboot it says Steam needs to download an update, it doesnt always say that, and last night I got into game, everything seemed OK, I was playing a multiplayer game with 4 other people, and when I had a little break, I went into my steam library and it said there were 2 updates.
When I have open the main menu, count one weapon, there are 1-2 seconds lag between pressing the button and actually shooting. Then, the game freezes every 2 to 5 seconds. I also get a message saying something like this: \”Unable to load Steam servers. Please check your network settings and try again. This error may be due to the Steam software running as a different user.\” This is probably the cause for the lag and the freezing. So I played for a while in offline mode and the problem went away. It might still happen when I have Steam open in a different window for any reason, but less often than before.
HL2 isn’t supported in Steam at the moment, so you’ll need to use some sort of external program to run the game. HL2:SI, FTGL and the HL2 Launcher make it so you don’t have to download and install Steam in order to play HL2. Another great reason to use HL2:SI over Steam.
I too was having issues, after the update, I was geting the error: No steam client found. Please re-install Steam and Steamapps folder, and then restart Steam. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but I was getting the same error. I uninstalled the HL2 application, reinstalled it, restarted the computer etc etc. I am running Vista by the way. And im missing my achievements. HL2 was on my third hard drive, I tried replacing it with a clean drive with no luck. Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with this. Thanks
