The coupling is of the type including a first terminal having two solder-bearing surfaces arranged to be respectively coupled to the printed-circuit board at two positions which are spaced apart from one another in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the conductive path of the board, and a second terminal provided with two bars extending in the direction of the conductive path of the board and arranged to be respectively connected to the printed-circuit board between the two solder-bearing surfaces of the first terminal, the bars including upper portions projecting beyond the solder-bearing surfaces of the first terminal and lower portions arranged to be in contact with one another.
Couplings of this kind have been on the market for some time, and the coupling has proved extremely successful in the electronics industry, where the coupling is made by mass-production techniques such as electro-plating and screen-printing methods.
The product, however, is not without its shortcomings, because for connecting the terminal in a reliable manner to the printed-circuit board, the bars extending in the direction of the conductive path of the board are, for example, spot-welded with the printed-circuit board. With this arrangement, the use of mass-production techniques, for example electro-plating or screen-printing methods, becomes expensive and complicated.
From U.S. Pat. No. 5,141,383, a coupling is known in which the bars extending in the direction of the conductive path are provided with grooves which serve to reduce the current density in these bars and thereby to increase the continuity of the connections. This, however, again requires electro-plating or screen-printing techniques, which are expensive and complicated.
