At the 63rd National Film Awards held on 30 June 2013, the film won in four categories: Best Production Design, Best Choreography, Best Editing and Best Sound Design.[201] D. Imman from Bangalore Mirror praised the technical and presentation details of the film, and considered it one of the finest and visually impressive films in the Indian cinematography sector.[202] On 15 November 2014, the producers announced that Enthiran was being produced as a Hindi American Comedy, to be titled Enthiran 2.[203]

On 3 January 2015, VFS Global reported that the producers of Enthiran had halted production of the Enthiran 2 until financing issues with that version were settled. They also reported that Rajinikanth had requested his heroine Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to reprise her role of Sivakami.[204] According to Kalanithi Maran, an associate of the producer, the film’s title had been changed to Robo. The producers decided to change the title of the Hindi version of Enthiran after Rajinikanth insisted that his original title be kept.[205] On 12 January, S. P. B. Charan, a lawyer representing the producer, told the media that the producers never abandoned their plans to make Enthiran 2.[204]

Rajinikanth admitted in February 2015 that the Hindi version Enthiran was going in the slowest phase of production.[206] In April 2016, S. Shankar announced plans to begin shooting for Enthiran 2 by May-June 2017, and to release it later in 2016.[207] Charan was reported to be assigned to handle the production of Enthiran 2, in addition to handling the distribution.[208] However, the film’s official website went offline on 29 October 2016, after remaining offline for several weeks.[209]
