The POPMan application was designed to be a small command line tool that can be useful to list messages in a POP mailbox and delete a message you don’t want to receive directly on the server.

Useful e.g. if you have a low bandwidth connection and can’t receive the e-mail you want just because there is a really big e-mail first at the server.

First of all you need to install the software.

As all software for general use you need to have a support for the language the application is coded in.
If the software is coded in C the language should be GCC C.

This is a set of instructions that will work for Linux, Unix and Mac OS. For Windows you should read the instruction for your operating system.

Make sure you have

The first thing to do is to download the code for the POPMan application that can be found here.
You need to download this file and save it somewhere.

Once the file has been downloaded you can double click on the file and it should open.

You need to have your email account configuration file (in my case this is the account.p7b file) in the same directory as the file you just downloaded.
To be sure you have this file in the right directory, you can look in the directory the file was downloaded to (which for me is the directory Downloads).
The account.p7b file is in the accounts subdirectory.

You then need to go to your email program and either go to the account configuration tab or if you have a newer program just click the “Fetch messages” button in your program.

Once you have the account.p7b file you can copy and paste this file into your email program and then it should work.

You should see the POPMan application in your email program.
If it doesn’t show up in your email program and you have a newer program (like Windows Live Mail or Apple Mail) then you need to go into the settings and add the account you have the file for.

If you have a program where you can’t change the settings just copy the account.p7b file into the same directory the POPMan application is in.
If you want to copy the file into a directory for all future use then you can copy the file into the directory that you downloaded the application to.
This will put the file where all your software will find it.

You can then either start the POPMan application by typing in the command line:

Or, you can just double click on the popman program that is in the directory you downloaded the application to and it should open.
