I have read several professional reviews of Lightroom and still like it the best. I would love to see it continue to improve:- a way to create presets for image manipulation so that I don’t have to make a new preset every time I change some parameters. For example, if I need a final image of roughly this exposure, it would be great to save that as a single preset and just change the parameters to create that image. That’s what I did with presets in CS3 for DPP, so why can’t Lightroom do it for me.- better exporting options. Why can’t export be a first creation menu option (I always export in ML) instead of an export destination option? This is such a simple change I think it would make exporting images much faster in the future. Why does exporting even exist? I ask this question of all my clients who expect me to create a final image but care little about exporting; Lightroom should not be confusing them with the options. Why not create a new, non-destructive composite editor? I can’t find a software programmer on this planet that would not ask this question with a straight face!- Fix the tripod that stretches the shadows. They need to fix the import as well. But this is a must have issue for my clients and I hate this problem. All my clients have hard time using this camera, especially if they have a tripod. Lightroom should not be cheating. Cheat is a bad word.

I am puzzled why so many people prefer Photoshop when Lightroom is a better option? Personally, I use a combination of both for editing images. In my experience, Lightroom is better for organizing, while Photoshop is much better for editing and making perfect selections. In my opinion, Adobe has already priced too high on both Lightroom and Photoshop.

The last time we spoke, I was talking about the launch of the new products and how they fit into the Photoshop workflow, and now it’s time to take a look at the features released in the last year.

Photoshop is your professional photo editor. Whether you need to transform or retouch one photo or a series, Photoshop lets you zoom in and out while you work to accurately edit and improve your images. Imagine all the creative potential of the Adobe Creative Suite when it comes to editing RAW files. In addition to the cleaning features outlined above, Photoshop Elements also lets you to apply photo retouching, effects and more.

A new feature that just came out in Photoshop 2015 is the Content Aware Fill. This is a tool we’ve waited for in AI only for a long time. Being a content-aware tool means the algorithm will figure out where the original content is in the photo and adjust what’s left by going to colors and tones that are similar and greying out the rest of the photo. A chunk of the process of turning a photo into a collage is done here and it looks gorgeous!

The latest version of Photoshop also has a feature called Content-Aware Move. This lets you select a bunch of content and then draw a bounding box around each one. Then, all the content in that box move is moved together by Photoshop, giving you a photo collage that’s not only neat, but saves a ton of time. One of the things I missed most from the Mac days was the ability to quickly preview my work on an actual device, something that the new macOS Preview app fills the need for.
