The time of year when I get asked what my Christmas present is. Now, I’m not new to this, but at this time of year I have to be extra careful what I reveal.

First of all, let me say that I do get a lot of gifts, and I want to find out what it is that is getting me most excited. I also want to be able to do the most I can with the present. Of course, that’s not the only reason that I want to be sure that I get one. I would like to be able to say “I know! I got you this!” and get an “Oh! You know what? I’m gonna get you this!” reaction. So, I’m really careful.

Now, for the real reason for all of this. I actually get the gift. But, I’m hoping that my spouse and I will have the best Christmas that we’ve ever had. Now, this is a really tough one. It takes a lot of effort to pull this off. You have to watch how much you’re involved and involved your spouse.

So, that’s why I don’t give out details until right before we’re opening gifts. I can give clues that something special is going to happen, but to give a pretty good clue would be telling a bit too much. And, we don’t want to make it too easy for our spouse to guess what we’re thinking.
